The Atlantic Hurricane Season began on 6/1/14.
A tropical depression off the Pacific coast is making landfall in Mexico and is expected to cross over and enter the Gulf of Mexico. I will be watching to see if this develops as another tropical storm that will threaten the SE United States.

It's Thanksgiving Day and I have been told that some people in New Jersey are still living in shelters and others still have no power.

Superstorm Sandy - 11/9/2012
More than 275,00 homes and businesses in New Jersey are still without electricity. Many of them hope to have power back this weekend.
To add to the devastation, heavy snow blanketed the area during the week. And more rain is expected this weekend.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by Sandy.

Superstorm Sandy - 10/31/12
As of 10/31/12, the Jersey Shore is slowly recovering.
LaGuardia Airport in NYC will reopen tomorrow (11/1) at.7:00 AM.
The Brooklyn-Battery and Holland tunnels in NYC are still closed.
The NYC subway system will reopen 14 of it's 23 lines on 11/1. There will be no subway service below 34th ST in Manhattan because of flooding and no power.
There are no subways between Brooklyn and Manhattan because of tunnel flooding.
The army corps of engineers is deploying 250 high speed pumps to clear the subways and tunnels.
Yes, I know many more of you have been hard hit, but this is the info I'm getting.

Hurricane Sandy - 9/30/2012
I'm see reports that millions are without power, FDNY reporting 2 city blocks fully involved in Queens, NYU Hospital losing back up power, 10 dead in the US including a Fire Fighter in Connecticut, 1 in Canada...Hurricane Sandy packing a punch
I've also seen reports of flooding in subways and the Brooklyn battery tunnel in NYC.
Mu home area at the Jersey Shore (Long Branch) was particularly hard hit when Sandy made landfall.
There is heavy snow in western Maryland and West Virginia.
I will have more later.

Hurricane Sandy - 10/29/12
I have not been posting to this blog, because most of the Atlantic Hurricanes have been heading out into the middle of the ocean and have not had impact on the mainland United States.
However, my thoughts and prayers are with the 50 million people in the Northeast who will be potentially impacted when Hurricane Sandy makes landfall later today.
This is a large and dangerous storm. I urge you to make preparations and/or evacuate ahead of the storm.
